Gesundheitsmanagement in der Wissensarbeit
In der modernen Wissensarbeit spielen psychische Belastungen und Beanspruchungen die zentrale Rolle im Arbeits- und Gesundheitsschutz. Laut Untersuchungen der Technischen Universität Dortmund leiden in der IT- und Medienbranche fast die Hälfte der Beschäftigten an psychischen Problemen, die nach Selbsteinschätzung vermutlich arbeitsbedingt sind. Nur vier von zehn Befragten gehen davon aus, dass sie die berufliche Belastung bis zum Rentenalter aushalten werden. Viele fühlen sich ausgebrannt. Dagmar Siebecke gibt einen Überblick über die Forschungslage und beschreibt, an welchen Punkten der betriebliche Gesundheitsschutz ansetzen sollte, um zu einer effektiven Prävention und Gesundheitsförderung zu gelangen.

Health and Disease Prevention in Knowledge Work
Psychological stress and demands play a central role within occupational safety and health protection in modern knowledge work. According to studies conducted by the Technische Universität Dortmund, for example, almost half of the employees in the IT and media industries suffer under psychological problems that they believe are probably caused by their work. Only four of ten employees interviewed assume that they will withstand the occupational stress until retirement age. Many employees feel burned out. Work-related problems that lead even to burnout are not caused by too much work but rather by the types of tasks, management conduct as well as working conditions and compensation terms. Burnout is triggered by working conditions that make it difficult for performance-oriented employees to deliver good results that satisfy them as well. In addition, the lack of recognition and appreciation is a disease-causing stress factor. Therefore, effective disease prevention and health promotion must not only focus on individual behavior but also always address working conditions.
